Mariana Migliore was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She began to play drums at age 16, taught by her father and to dance since she was 11. Her father soon realized that she was learning very fast so he introduced her to his teacher, Horacio Gianello. She studied for four years with him, learning all different styles while she studied Biochemistry at Universidad de Buenos Aires and studied dance as well. She decided that she wanted to be an artist so she started a career in Modern Dance and continued with her drumming private lessons. She started taking private lessons with pianist Anibal Zorrilla who taught her music’s fundamental. After graduating as a Modern Dance interpreter, she began working as a Pilates instructor, to support herself while trying to get into one of the best music schools in Buenos Aires. She played in a rock band called Aura B for two years and at jazz jam sessions around the city at that time too.
It was her dream to enter Berklee to have a degree in music as well as in dance and she finally got in in Spring of 2011.
Right now, she is in the Music Business Major and expects to graduate by August 2014. She has been performing around Boston with several groups such as Afrobrazil, Grooversity, Folkloreishon, Zili Misik, Ocean Transfer, Up the Dows, The symptoms and others. She plays bombo leguero which she brought from Argentina and she is featured in several groups using it.
In 2012 she became Content Editor of the Music Business Journal at Berklee and wrote several articles for it. Since her first semester she has made the Dean’s list. She also won the Inouye Family Endowed Award for her academic achievements within the Music Business Department. She was chosen to be one of the five students taking the Founder’s Journey Class at MIT, Spring 2014. After Berklee, she wants to become a Music Supervisor as well as continuing with her career as a freelance drummer.
