About Me

Artistic Bio

Artist – Lewis Robertson
Instrument- guitar

I have been playing since 1999 and have had many rewarding experiences during that time. I performed at numerous venues and with many different musicians. I used this time to begin to learn what it means to perform, and how much time and effort is required to make a band work.

I formed my own band in high school called Budapeg. Budapeg played San Fransisco venues as well as many other bay area cities. We were featured on Mix TV, newspapers, magazines, and numerous TV news reports, and won 1st place at the Battle of the Bands at the Concord Pavillion. We did numerous benefit shows for things like Make a Wish Foundation. We recorded two C.D.s and learned how to promote ourselves.

Thorough high school, I lead things like the Student Council, and was chosen to go to a very prestigious leadership camp called Camp Royal. Through all of the connections I made from this in the school, the Rotary Club, and in my hometown, I put on numerous benefit concerts. One benefit concert that I put on was to benefit an organization called LN-4. LN-4 made working prosthetic hands, and gave them out to those in need, and unable to work because of their condition. All proceeds went to LN-4, and we raised over $1,000 for them.

I was able to play for Sammy Hagar while applying for a summer program, to which I was awarded a full scholarship from Sammy himself. He told me that I could do things that he couldn’t even dream of doing with a guitar.

I also played on stage with Steve Vai at a master class in Los Angeles. We jammed together and received a standing ovation! Afterwards, Mr. Vai took my hand, told me that I play with great passion and gave a slight bow.

Thorough high school, and into college, I have been teaching private guitar lessons to support my guitar addiction. In the summer of 2010, I got a job teaching music summer camps for Bandworks School of Rock.

My second semester, I was able to get into the Berklee P-Funk Ensemble, and headline the Hynes Convention Center in Boston with them. I am now working with the P-Funk instructor and helping him choose the students that are let into the ensemble. We have since headlined the Beantown Jazz Festival with Bernie Worrell, and and headlined the High School Jazz Festival Again. I also auditioned for, and got the job as the guitarist with Briana Cash, a Berklee Alum, for a headlining gig at the Boston Hard Rock Café. I am now playing and traveling with a band that I am in, “Luca and the Ambassadors”. We have been playing in New York city, numerous places in Massachusetts, and are soon going on a tour from Boston, to NY, to Vegas, to San Francisco, LA, and possibly Canada.

My private instructor came to me and informed me of a secret Steve Vai Berklee class that he was putting together. Since I knew so much about Steve Vai, he wanted my help in putting the class together, so I told him what songs contained certain techniques, and what a Steve Vai fan would want to learn. This resulted in a hand written thank you letter from Steve Vai, and from my instructor.

Recently, I had the opportunity to rehearse and perform with George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. It was an amazing experience, and I made a lot of great contacts. Members of the band have kept in touch, and I expect to play with them again in the future.

I play any chance I get with just about any type of musician. I want to be able to play any genre of music. Although I have my favorites, I believe all music can teach you something about yourself as well as music.
