About Me

  • Amy has been playing violin for over twelve years. Though she is mostly self-taught, she learned the importance of playing in tune, in time, and using the whole bow for a full, rich sound.
  • Attended Rocky Lee’s Southern California Community of the Arts camp in Anaheim, California for 4 years as a first violinist, playing difficult repetoire such as Vivaldi’s summer, The Carnival Suite, The Holburg Suite by Greig, Simple Symphony by Benjamin Britten, and The Mendelssohn concerto, to name a few. Because of the demanding work, this is what gave Amy the ability to sight read, which is one of her considerable strengths.
  • Accepted into the All Southern orchestra for 3 years. This orchestra was audition based and only took the best of the players in the Southern California school districts.
  • Performed at Carnegie Hall in April of 2007. That same year, she enrolled in the Berklee College of Music to study violin performance.

Amy’s strengths lie in sight-reading, and her preferred genre styles are Classical, Bluegrass, Old-time, Klezmer, and Jazz. She has played for many weddings and holiday parties. In regards to wedding repetoire, Amy is very flexible to play whatever will make your day most special. She is capable of playing solo, duo, trio or quartet, and can bring together such instrumentation as viola, cello, flute, accordion, piano, guitar or upright bass.

Currently Amy holds regular gigs with her gypsy circus rock band Mighty Tiny, and with singer-songwriter Laura Jorgensen, who won the open category of the International Acoustic Music Awards with her song, “The Most Beautiful Fear”. She is preparing her senior recital on April 27th in partial fulfillment of her degree in violin performance.
