My name is Ileana Di Camillo, I live in London and I’ve been a professional singer since 1997.
I started my musical training when I was ten, studying classical piano and music theory . Then, I studied opera singing (with the canadian Soprano Marguerite Lavergne) and contemporary vocal technique, harmony, ear training and jazz improvisation, attending the most important schools in Rome and nearby (“International Music Institute”; “Università della Musica”; “Saint Louis College of Music”, “Licinio Refice Conservatory of Music”).
I also studied Estill Voicecraft and attended an arranging course (“Small Ensemble and Horns”) at Berklee On-Line School.
Among the many artistic experiences of the past years, there are some that I really love to mention: I performed in the Musical named “Sentimental” (summer of 2004: I toured with “La Compagnia delle Riviste di Marco Leandris”, singing tunes inspired by the world of circus and operetta); collaborated with the folk band “I Cerchi Magici” (I performed with them in the stunning frame of Piazza Venezia , during the “Rome Marathon” 2006,); partecipated at the “International Day of Relief” (Rome, “Policlinico Universitario Gemelli”, 29 may 2006), when I played alongside Lino Patruno and Francesca Ciommei.
In addition, I’ve been involved in various music projects and have been performing with different bands (“Ileana Di Camillo Jazz Quartet”, “No Age Four…Jazz!”, “Memphis Ladies…and Their Boys”, “The Blue Notes Jazz Band”, “Fair Island”, The Jazz Farm").
Now, I’m writing my own material and, as a member of the “Whimsy Sounds Vocal Trio” (with Diana Torti and Antonio De Lillis), I’ve just recorded an album called “Voices” (original compositions by Sabino de Bari)
I teach private singing lessons, focusing on vocal technique and jazz repertoire, and also hold masterclasses on scat singing and vocal improvisation techniques.
