About Me

Charlie Puth is from NJ and is currently studying at Berklee College of Music, and majoring in Music Production & Engineering. Charlie is a jazz piano principal who studied at Manhattan School of Music’s Pre College program from 7th grade to his senior year. At Berklee he is widely known as a songwriter and producer inside and out of the college. Charlie has a substantial online prescence for his music and can been seen on YouTube, EllenTV, and a variety of other social networking sites.

During his first semester at Berklee, Charlie recorded, produced, and marketed his very first digital EP, which has sold over 5,000 digital units as of today. He jumped from having 10,000 video hits on his music daily, to now 200,000 hits daily and a total of 40,000,000 hits on his music. In September, Charlie produced and sang an Adele cover with Berklee student Emily Luther. The video has 16,000,000+ hits as of right now. Charlie earlier this year appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres program and in January to preform the cover (“Someone Like You” with Emily Luther. Charlie currently has a record deal with ElevenEleven records. Charlie is a songwriter and producer for artists on Atlantic and Universal records.

Inside of Berklee

During my four semesters here, I have maintained an average 3.5 GPA.

Board of Trustee Meeting:
Last year I spoke at the Board of Trustee Meeting by request of Roger Brown. Here I spoke about my YouTube success and how I market my music online.

ReThink Music Convention:
Last year I made the same presentation (slightly modified) at the ReThink music convention in April. Here, I made several business friends such as Ian Rogers the CEO of TopSpin Media. This site is now a new outlet for my music.

Perfect Pitch Contest:
In 2010 I was chosen as one of the 10 songwriters for Berklee’s 1st annual “Perfect Pitch Contest” where Mario Jose sang an original work of mine.

Berklee Mentor Program:
This year, I was chosen to be a part of Berklee’s Mentor program. My mentors are Stuart and Lecia Scantlebury out of Beverly, MA.

At the end of my 2nd semester, I received admission into the MP&E program based on merit and production knowledge.

Livingston Taylor:
I have been working with Livingston Taylor inside and outside of class on music to pitch in Nashville. I have also played with Livingston at many Berklee fundraising events.

Martha’s Vineyard / Berklee Fundrasier:
This past August, I preformed at Roger Brown’s Berklee party at his home in Martha’s Vineyard.

Outside of Berklee

Ellen Show:
Appeared and preformed on the Ellen DeGeneres program on October 5th, 2011 and January 25th, 2012. Promoted Berklee College of Music while on the show.

Got the attention of Jimmy Iovine and many other labels through the music I have sang and produced with Emily Luther.

I have been running my own jingle writing / song commission / music production business out of my dorm room and now apartment. From the funds gained from my business, I am able to pay Berklee fees and fully support myself, as well as invest in new music equipment every month.

Since Fall of 2010, I have gained 40,000,000 total hits on my music. The “Someone Like You” cover by Adele I produced in September 2011 has 10,000,000+ hits on YouTube and was on iTunes’ Top 50 for 2 days.

Received publishing deal with EMI Sony.

Received a record deal with Eleven Eleven (Ellen DeGeneres’ label)

Wrote and produced “Break Again” for myself and Emily Luther. Worked with several Berklee musicians and MP&E students for mastering process in studio G.
(600,000 hits on YouTube) Because of this song, we were asked to play again on the Ellen Show, and it landed the EMI Publishing Deal.
