About Me

The guitar has been my life since June 2012 up to this time. I tried pursuing other career paths as I finished a Psychology Degree in 2011; however, the journey only strengthened my resolve of being a musician. I believe that with my guitar, I am called to a higher calling, a God-purposed life I am designed for. It is in picking up my guitar that I realized money cannot buy me this dynamic expression, the language in gesture of loving what I do and what I am doing, loving me back. Though I studied piano when I was in elementary and also drums when I was in college, it was in guitar where I found my compatibility. At the age of 12, my mom bought me my first guitar and I only learned to play it at 14. In those early days, I was taught to play songs by my cousins. Then I went on seeking further with what I can do with my instrument. By the time I was in college, I played the guitar in a Catholic community. After graduating, I formed a rock band with my friends from church. We played in benefit gigs and charity concerts. From the year 2012 to 2015, I focused on developing my skills by playing on gigs and performing professionally in different restaurants, bars, music lounges and events such as wedding ceremonies and receptions, benefit concerts, debuts and birthdays. Nonetheless, I still felt something lacking with my music, so I decided to have formal tutoring with one of the best guitarists in the city, Sir Ethan Ventura in 2013. Under his tutelage, I discovered the immensity of music and what if offers. Meanwhile, I became the head of the music ministry in our church and I also taught guitar in the music studio where I once enrolled in. I have regular gigs every week, at approximately four nights a week, and also partnership with various events and event coordinators. Currently, I have 4 different bands and I play as a session guitarist with other musicians at times. In my continuous study of music, I learned to unlock the gift God has given me. Eventually, I came to learn about Jazz and Blues. I watched performances of artists that inspired me most about this genre, Joe pass, Nathan East, Lee Ritenour, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Esperanza Spalding, Stacey Kent, Ella Fitzgerald and BB King. I figured I can unfasten my potential by being exposed to their world. However, my search is far from over with regards to my musicality and technique as I feel my inadequacies and unquenchable thirst for knowledge. As consequence, I maximized what technology could offer and explored the best schools that are capable of helping me. It is only Berklee College of Music that matched my interests and expectations.
