I started playing classical violin at age 8, and added viola @ 14, winning a scholarship to the AFM Congress of Strings later that year. I studied classical viola with Nancy Cirillo at Wheaton College for 4 years, as well as appearing in the chorus of “Fidelio” under Sarah Caldwell. After some time off from playing I studied classical violin with Arturo Delmoni for 2 years. Since then I have moved primarily into improvisational playing for Rock/Pop/Folk/World gigs (appearing currently with Avant Classical/Rock band Ginger Ibex, Latin duo Las Aboricuás; formerly with Irish Punk Rockers The Gobshites, and occasional appearances with local pop singers Ad Frank and Paula Kelley).
I’m available for gigs and session work in all genres (except no DMB – sorry!). Visit my site for more information: www.BettyWiderski.com
