About Me

Artist Biography

I am extremely thankful that I come from a musical family. Coming from an academic-oriented high school, I didn’t think of pursuing music until my final months of high school, and when I did, my family was very supportive. When the time came to decide which college to go to, I knew that if I didn’t give music a shot, I would regret it for the rest of my life. Therefore, I would like to take this chance to give my family a big shout out – thank you. Without their love and support, I wouldn’t be who I am today and I definitely would not be where I am right now. Once I arrived at Berklee in Summer 2010, I fell in love with the people, the city and music. Over the semesters as I ventured deeper into music, I’ve discovered I love creating music – both as a composer and a performer. I am at my happiest at the keyboard, be it performing live for people on stage, or recording MIDI into Logic Pro in the comfort of my own home.

Whenever I set about composing, arranging or creating music, my aim is to reach out to people. At times, I want my music to touch as many peoples’ lives as possible. Other times, I want to compose music to show others a unique side of me. Most of the time, I want my music to be relatable to everyone’s experiences in life, and yet subtly convey a little special part of myself as well. Composing helps me discover myself, and has also helped me improve as a performer.

While in Boston, I have also recently discovered a newfound interest in taking and editing videos. I often go into recording sessions armed with just my trusty DSLR, a tripod, and a couple of lenses. Most of my videos are of musicians and their bands, I really enjoy capturing those intense moments where they are “in the zone”. By putting together a music video, I am helping these musicians convey their musical message to the world in a more visual way, and I believe that is extremely important when trying to connect to a bigger audience.

My music inspiration comes from experiences in my life as well as others, and I hope that through my songs, I am able to put into music how they feel and let them know they are not alone. Simplicity is something I cherish and do not underestimate, and this is something that is evident in some of my more popular songs. I believe everyone should have the privilege of listening and enjoying music, and one of my goal is to be able to produce high quality music for people to listen to. Be it as a performer on stage, a producer of someone else’s work, or a composer.

I also draw inspiration from artists I admire. They have impacted and influenced the way I approach my creating of music. These artists come from a variety of genres – Sara Bareilles, Late Night Alumni and Maroon 5 are some of the artists who influence my popular song writing. Taylor Eigsti, Aaron Parks, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock and Bill Evans are some of my jazz musical influences.
